Ingredients:
- 10 red chilies
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 10 garlic pods
- 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
- Small lemon-sized tamarind
- Fresh curry leaves
- Fresh coriander
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon urad dal
- 3 dry red chilies
Instructions:
Process to make the rasam powder:
To make the rasam powder, put the red chilies, cumin, black pepper, garlic pods, and coriander seeds into a blender and make it into a coarse powder. Your aromatic and tasty rasam powder is now ready.
Instructions for making the rasam:
- Heat a deep vessel and add 3 cups of water.
- Add the tamarind, salt, turmeric, rasam powder, 4 crushed garlic pods, and a few fresh curry leaves and coriander.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and then take it off the stove.
- Let the mixture sit for a few minutes and then strain it.
Instructions for seasoning:
- In a kadai, add 2 tablespoons of oil and let it heat up.
- Once the oil is hot, add in 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon of urad dal, and 3 dry red chilies.
- Fry the mixture slightly, and then add in 5 crushed garlic pods and a few fresh curry leaves.
- Pour in the strained rasam and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander.

For Seasoning/Poppu/Tadka:
- 1/2 Tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 Tsp Urad dal
- 3 Dry red chilies
- 5 Garlic pods crushed
- 2 Tbsp Oil
- Fresh curry leaves
- Fresh Coriander for garnish
Instructions
Making the Rasam Powder:
- Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend them into a coarse powder.
- Your aromatic and tasty Rasam powder is ready.

- Once it heats, add urad dal, mustard seeds, and dry red chilies and fry them slightly.
- Now, add the curry leaves and crushed garlic pods and fry them for a few seconds.
- Pour the strained Rasam into the kadai.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
