Cooking the dal:
Wash the toor dal and keep it aside.
In a pressure cooker, add the washed toor dal, water, turmeric, chili powder, green chilies, and grated mango. I also added the seed into the dal so that the dal takes all the taste from the shell of the seed.
Close the cooker and let it cook for 5 whistles, 3 on high and 2 on low.
Let it cook for a bit and then open the cooker and add salt.
Mash the dal with a wooden hand masher or ladle and keep it aside.
Seasoning the dal:
Take a kadai and add ghee. Once it is hot, add cumin seeds, urad dal, mustard seeds, dry red chilies, and curry leaves and fry them slightly.
Now add garlic and coriander and mix well. Add 1 tbsp of grated mango and mix well until all the seasonings are well combined.
Now add red chili powder and fry everything well.
Add the dal and mix well.
Bring it to a boil and dish out.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it with hot rice and ghee.
